Life changes, studio makeover, UK holiday, and other stuff

Life changes, studio makeover, UK holiday, and other stuff

What a whirlwind of a few weeks it's been! I'm still trying to catch my breath here! Let's see if I can find the beginning of what became a load of chaos and fill you in from there.

The house move was going along smoothly, I was packing up after decluttering and getting ready to downsize and settle in the new house with less stuff and therefore much quicker than when we moved here.

  • Titan had a big flare up with his skin, an ear infection and a loss of appetite. Two days at the vets got him on the right treatment and slowly he began to get better and back to his usual self. I learned that this will be a regular thing for him now so we have plans in place for his next flare up.
  • I unofficially closed my business for a while to take off some pressure that I was beginning to feel.
  • I was approached by a local craft shop about them stocking my items. We are still in talks but she is very keen to have a stand dedicated to my items. When this is finalised I will share more.
  • My dad had a stay in hospital so I was up in the Midlands as much as I could be until after he got home. He's doing well and is happy to be home again.

  • Life felt so overwhelming to me. Not only the above but the worry of my dad, my mom now being on palliative care, and my health being up and down.
  • My best friend, Lisa invited to spend some time with her in Gt Yarmouth, so I went and had a truly relaxing and brilliant week with her.
  • The house move fell through. Somehow, as much as I want that house, it didn't really phase me, perhaps that was because I was so, so relaxed when I was in Yarmouth that not much affected me.
  • Getting home, the kids and I decided we're going to stay here, at least until the new year but most likely for a couple of years. Giving them a chance to save up for the place they want to move into and me time to further grow my business and just 'breathe' for a while.
  • The onset of carnage began! Lauren decorated her room...which was my room. I moved into the other large bedroom and had my small bedroom back as my office/studio.
  • I decorated the studio. Made a few mistake which I am yet to fix!
  • Moved in the furniture, unsure on one desk but I'm giving it time to see if it works on me.
  • Set up shelving, put my sticker storage on the wall and generally set up the space. Still have lots to do in here though.
  • The living room, free of my work space is waaaayy too large now so i'm looking forward to putting my library area back in there!
  • The house is somewhat upside down but it's ok, we're in progress.
  • My printer gave up the ghost (overworked for a guess). Epson replaced it and upgraded it but that didn't work either so I'm waiting to hear back from them.
  • My cricut died. Then undied. Then died again. Then undied again. Now I don't know if it's dead or alive because I refuse to turn it on until the printer issue is dealt with. Lol.
  • More than ever I am looking forward to my holiday to Malaga in October!!!

So, there's much to do there, but most of it is just life happening, and that's ok, but some of it is either stressful or just downright irritating and I'm totally over it now!!

For me, I spent time reading when I could. I had missed the time I would get lost in the world of someone's story, get to know people who don't stress me out (yeah, real life there) but made me laugh, sigh, gasp or even cry. A world where boxes were not building up like a Minecraft scene, dogs were perfectly healthy and happy, eating at restaurants was healthy and delicious and other details that felt like the polar opposite of my life at the time.

Then came the changing rooms ::sigh:: At first, in words, it was all great, easy and a quick process. Reality has other plans as it often does. A week in we're still up to our necks in boxes and disorganised rooms. Yes, it's a process, we understand that but the homemaker in me is screaming on the inside to get out, get off, get away!!

Titan, my lil shadow, Titan. He loves to lay by me in bed, as close as he possibly can. Then he'll roll over onto his back and nudge me enough that I'll put my arm round him and scratch his tummy. He'll stay like this for as long as I scratched. In the meantime, Taylor, his brother, is either off sulking that Titan has the best spot or he's laying across me attempting murder by putting his weight across my chest so much that I struggle to breathe! God help me if I think about moving, it's like they know what I'm thinking and pounce into the pin-me-down position that I give up before I've finished the thought.

Would I change any of it? Not for all the tea in China!

Moving on, before my daughters friend needed a place to stay for a while in May, he needed his own room so I gave up my office/studio for a few weeks. This is how it was before, it was functional but it wasn't exactly creative or inviting.

The updates to the new studio is still underway but I'm around 90% done so I will update there properly in the next blog post.

I'd love to hear your summer events, life events or anything you'd like to share.
